The AI startup xAI has released 3D-animated AI companions for Grok.
SuperGrok plan users for $30 a month gain access to an anime character named Ani. She greets the interlocutor with the phrase "Hey babe!" and is open to discussing any topics—from Samsung smartphones to philosophical concepts.
Companions are currently available only on iOS. Users who have reached the third level of interaction with Ani can unlock NSFW content. Part of the audience, including fans of Elon Musk, has positively evaluated the update.
In addition to her, there is also Rudy — a cartoon-style panda, created for "soulful" and safe conversations. NSFW communication is not provided with him.
It didn't go without criticism.
Some users urged to "protect their children at all costs." Some believed that Ani looks underage.
The system allows switching between characters during dialogue. Various personality types are available, as well as "Narrator" and "No Brakes" modes.
The underlying technology stack of Grok companions includes natural language processing, emotion recognition algorithms, and memory systems that retain information between conversations. The 3D animation responds in real-time — for example, Ani's dress flows and hearts appear during flirting.
