JAM protocol progress: 38 team development, Testnet starts in May, goal is knowledge decentralization.
JAM Protocol Development Team Shares Progress and Future Outlook
Last month, a group of developers and students completed Web3 studies in Lucerne, Switzerland. Several JAM protocol implementation teams shared their experiences in JAM and their understanding of the protocol with graduates at the event.
JAM Development Status
Currently, 38 teams are publicly participating in JAM development, covering about 15 programming languages. The JAM reward program encourages developers from different backgrounds to independently implement the protocol based on the white paper specifications, promoting positive interaction and the establishment of a community atmosphere.
The JAM Experience event will be held in Lisbon in May, with plans to launch the JAM testnet. At the same time, the JAM Toaster data center is being built for large-scale network stress testing.
The Goals and Features of JAM
The goal of JAM is to promote ecological prosperity through decentralized knowledge. It has gathered hundreds of developers and established an expert community before the protocol goes live, laying the talent foundation for future upgrades.
JAM is a minimalist protocol that does not natively include tokens or governance mechanisms; all functions are expanded in the form of services. It supports multiple programming languages, allowing developers to freely choose tools and frameworks.
Polkadot Migration Path to JAM
The basic idea is to first develop the Core Chain Service to support running parallel chains on JAM. We are currently accumulating migration experience in preparation for the future switch to JAM. Specific details such as data and state retention are still under discussion.
Future Prospects of JAM
The versatility of JAM far exceeds the existing Polkadot architecture, opening up many new possibilities. Developers are looking forward to creating new services based on JAM and exploring innovations that go beyond the existing parachain model.
Some developers believe that JAM has the potential to become a national-level infrastructure, helping countries achieve technological sovereignty. They believe that JAM is the only choice to realize the true ideals of Web3.
JAM Development Progress
The development of the JAM protocol is divided into 5 milestone phases. Currently, about 20-25 teams are actively engaged, most of which are expected to advance to the third milestone. It is anticipated that a total of 8 mature JAM implementation versions may ultimately emerge.
