Blockchain technology has been listed as an important component of the new infrastructure, with the National Development and Reform Commission clarifying three major directions.

Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission held an online regular press conference to respond to the widespread attention from all sectors of society on new infrastructure. At the meeting, Wu Hao, Director of the Department of Innovation and High-tech Development, elaborated on the main content of the new infrastructure.

According to Wu Hao's introduction, the new type of infrastructure mainly includes three aspects:

First is the information infrastructure. This mainly refers to the infrastructure that has emerged from the development of a new generation of information technology. Specifically, it includes communication network infrastructure represented by 5G, the Internet of Things, industrial Internet, and satellite Internet; new technology infrastructure represented by artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and blockchain; as well as computing power infrastructure represented by data centers and intelligent computing centers.

The second is the integration of infrastructure. This refers to the new type of infrastructure formed by promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional infrastructure through the deep application of technologies such as the Internet, big data, and artificial intelligence. For example, smart transportation infrastructure and smart energy infrastructure all belong to this category.

The third is innovative infrastructure. This mainly refers to those infrastructures with public welfare attributes that support scientific research, technology development, and product development. For example, major scientific and technological infrastructures, educational and scientific infrastructures, and industrial technology innovation infrastructures all fall into this category.

It is worth noting that as early as the Central Economic Work Conference held in December 2018, infrastructure construction was redefined. The conference defined emerging technology fields such as 5G, artificial intelligence, industrial internet, and the Internet of Things as "new infrastructure construction." The statement from the National Development and Reform Commission further clarified the important position of blockchain technology in the new infrastructure, listing it as a crucial component of the new type of infrastructure.

This series of measures indicates that our country is actively promoting the construction of new infrastructure to meet the new demands of economic and social development, promote industrial upgrading, and achieve high-quality economic development. The new infrastructure not only encompasses traditional infrastructure in the conventional sense but also includes emerging technological infrastructure that supports future development, reflecting the country's strategic layout in promoting technological innovation and digital transformation.
