RootData founder Hunter: Creating a Web3 version of Qichacha to address the pain point of information asymmetry.
Web3 Asset Data Platform RootData Founder Hunter Shares Insights on Data Entrepreneurship
Hunter, co-founder of RootData, shared his entrepreneurial journey from ChainCatcher Media to the RootData data platform in a live broadcast. He stated that the establishment of RootData stemmed from the pain point of information asymmetry in the Web3 industry, hoping to create a "Web3 version of Qichacha."
Hunter introduced that RootData mainly provides "underwater data" such as project fundamentals, investment and financing dynamics, and community popularity, which complement the price data provided by platforms like CoinMarketCap. The platform addresses the high cost of information acquisition in Web3 through differentiated data, a one-stop experience, and user-friendly design.
Regarding data accuracy, Hunter stated that it is ensured through three methods: data traceability, user feedback, and regular verification. He admitted that the accuracy of off-chain data is a long-term challenge that requires continuous optimization.
When talking about the differences with competitors, Hunter stated that RootData's focus on off-chain data, tagged filtering, and dynamic features are the main advantages. He believes that Web3 still needs such a comprehensive data platform.
For new users, Hunter stated that RootData can provide features such as project overviews, pit avoidance reminders, and tag navigation to help newcomers quickly understand projects and industry dynamics. He suggested that newcomers practice more, immerse themselves in data, and gradually integrate into Web3.
Regarding future development, Hunter revealed that RootData is attempting to develop derivative businesses such as OTC trading matching and a points system, but still focuses on doing data well.
Finally, Hunter gave three pieces of advice to Web3 entrepreneurs: focus on profitability, beware of false demand, and stick to doing the right thing. He emphasized the importance of seizing real demand like in Web2, and not treating issuing tokens as the only way out. Hunter stated that his entrepreneurial philosophy is "doing the right thing, leaving the rest to time," and hopes to make Web3 assets more transparent through RootData, helping users make rational decisions.
