The Egyptian president and the Qatari prime minister held talks, emphasizing continued efforts to achieve a ceasefire protocol in Gaza.
Jin10 reported on August 19 that on August 18 local time, Egyptian President Sisi met with visiting Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed. The two sides consulted on bilateral relations and regional situation issues such as the Gaza ceasefire negotiations. Both parties emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation with the United States to reach an agreement that ensures an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, allows humanitarian aid to enter urgently and without obstruction, and ensures the release of detained individuals from both the Palestinian and Israeli sides. The two sides also expressed strong opposition to any attempts by Israel to reoccupy the Gaza Strip and to expel Palestinians from their homes. They stressed that establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on international legitimacy resolutions, is the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
