Jin10 reported on August 18 that in response to concerns in Europe that Trump would coerce Ukrainian President Zelensky into reaching an unfavorable peace protocol, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio expressed anger, calling it a "stupid media narrative." On a program on CBS in the U.S., the host stated that Europeans are worried that "Zelensky might be coerced into signing something," which is why some European leaders are coming in as backup tomorrow, asking Rubio if he can reassure them. Rubio replied, "That’s not true; they are not coming here tomorrow to ensure Zelensky isn’t bullied... this is a stupid media narrative." Rubio stated that the U.S. has met with Zelensky and Ukraine far more often than with Putin, and that Trump has maintained regular contact with Zelensky's European allies.
