The conflict between Israel and Iran continues, with both sides continuing to attack.
Gate News bot message: The open hostilities between Israel and Iran entered their fourth day on Monday, with no signs of de-escalation, raising concerns about the potential for a wider war in this oil-rich region.
In the past 24 hours, Iran has launched multiple waves of drones and missiles, while Israel attacked the Iranian capital Tehran, resulting in the death of another important military official.
According to the Iranian government, 224 people have died since Friday, most of whom are civilians. Israeli emergency services reported that the Iranian attacks resulted in 14 deaths and about 400 injuries.
On Friday, Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran's military and nuclear facilities, escalating tensions between the two countries into direct conflict. Subsequently, Israel's airstrikes highlighted its aerial superiority while exposing the limitations of Iran's effective response capabilities.
For Iran, this standoff represents a strategic dilemma. It cannot afford to appear weak, but its options for retaliation are dwindling—and the proxy forces it supports in the region have largely been intimidated by Israel's actions.
At the beginning of the attack in Israel, U.S. President Donald Trump urged Iran to reach a nuclear agreement, and on Sunday he stated that Iran and Israel "should reach an agreement, and they will reach an agreement."
"Peace between Israel and Iran will be achieved soon!" he said on his social media platform Truth Social. "Many calls and meetings are currently taking place."
He later stated in an interview with reporters, "But sometimes they have to fight to the end."
There are almost no other signs indicating that a breakthrough is imminent.
