Cryptocurrency Bullish Senator Announces Good News for Bitcoin: "Next Week 1 Million BTC..."
U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis announced at the Bitcoin 2025 Conference that President Donald Trump supports a new bill that envisions the purchase of 1 million Bitcoin.
According to Lummis's statement, the relevant bill is coming to the Congress agenda next week.
Lummis stated that he believes the U.S. government currently holds approximately 200,000 Bitcoins, but that this information was "hidden" following a mandatory audit required by the White House. The senator also noted that a special briefing on this matter was offered.
In Washington, activity regarding cryptocurrency laws continues. Over the past two weeks, Senate Republicans have been making intense efforts for stablecoin regulations, and now they have turned their attention to the House of Representatives.
The Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, French Hill, announced that a second full committee session regarding the structure of the cryptocurrency market will be held on June 4. Sources close to the process indicate that the updated bill is expected to be shared with the public ahead of the session.
A "markup" session is also planned for June 10. However, it remains uncertain whether the law regarding the structure of the crypto market will be discussed on that day.
President Trump's goal of getting stablecoin and market structure laws to his desk within the next 69 days is increasing the pressure on Congress. In particular, some Democrats and a small number of Republicans in the Senate are delaying putting the GENIUS Act to a vote in order to slow down Trump's pro-crypto agenda.
