Launching in October this year! Phuket Island, Thailand will launch the 'Crypto Assets Sandbox'.
"Block Client" previously reported that the Thai government plans to pilot "Cryptocurrency Payments" on Phuket. Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra recently revealed that Phuket is expected to launch a "Cryptocurrency Sandbox" project in October this year.
According to the Bangkok Post, Thaksin Shinawatra said that Thailand is more equipped than any other Southeast Asian country for the development of Crypto Assets, especially with the increasing popularity in this field, particularly after US President-elect Donald Trump expressed his support for Crypto Assets.
Thaksin Shinawatra revealed that other ASEAN countries are also interested in meeting with Thailand about cryptocurrency. He believes that this is an excellent opportunity to accelerate the injection of funds into the economic system.
Thaksin Shinawatra pointed out that it is urgent to promote the development of Crypto Assets, and any further delay will only lead to the flow of elite talents in the field of Crypto Assets to the United States. He further stated that Crypto Assets are not speculation, but a new form of currency supported by assets such as gold or government bonds.
Thaksin Shinawatra specifically mentioned that stablecoins have lower risks and are a relatively safe choice. He clearly stated that Thailand will not accept high-risk cryptocurrencies entering the market. It is expected to launch a cryptocurrency sandbox involving the private sector in October this year.
Last month, Thaksin Shinawatra proposed launching a Bitcoin sandbox on Phuket Island during a seminar for the Pheu Thai Party, aiming to attract international travelers with cryptocurrency to stimulate local tourism and digital economy development. This idea has immediately gained widespread support from the industry.
