The founder of Neo Pets makes a comeback, and the new work Dragginz is highly anticipated.
Web3 Game Pioneers Return, "Neo Pets" Founders Create New Work Dragginz
The founders of "Neopets", Adam Powell and Donna Williams, are developing a new Web3 game called Dragginz, which is a blockchain game that combines "pet raising" with "open world". They hope to realize the concepts that were not achieved in "Neopets" back in the day through this game.
Dragginz is built on the Internet Computer blockchain, aimed at providing players with a seamless experience without the need to understand cryptocurrency knowledge. The game uses a reverse Gas model, so players do not need to pay Gas fees.
Dragginz will be a free game, with no sponsorships or advertisements. The only reason players stake tokens to participate in DAO governance is their confidence in the future of the game and their desire to contribute to its development.
In the absence of the game's launch, its governance token SNS-1 has already surged 20 times. The development team plans to rename the token to DKP(Draggin Karma Points) and expand the total supply from 10,000 to 1 billion.
Adam and Donna stated that they began paying attention to blockchain technology early on, and they were considering developing Web3 games as early as 2014. They ultimately chose Internet Computer because of its advantages in efficiency, transaction speed, and carbon footprint.
Regarding the NFT elements in the game, Donna explained that these NFTs represent in-game utility items, such as pet parts, spells, etc., which can be traded among players. The development team does not directly profit from NFT sales.
The Dragginz project is scheduled for launch in the second half of 2024 or early 2025. The development team hopes to create a game with outstanding content that attracts players globally, rather than relying solely on tokens or NFTs for quick profits. They believe that if a truly engaging game is developed, mainstream players will naturally shift to Web3 platforms.
