Trump nominates former SEC Chairman Clayton as federal prosecutor; new Treasury Secretary candidate may be announced this week.

According to reports, Trump nominated Jay Clayton for the position of U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Clayton served as the chairman of the SEC during Trump's first term.

At the same time, as competition among cabinet members becomes increasingly fierce, Scott Bessent, one of the potential candidates for Secretary of the Treasury, has expressed support for the economic policies of the elected president. Bessent believes that these policies will help drive growth across various sectors of the economy. He is the founder of an investment management firm. It is reported that the nomination of the new Secretary of the Treasury may be announced as early as this week.
