Kaia ecosystem fully upgraded: Mini Dapp leads new rise in Web3
Overview of Kaia Ecosystem Development: On-chain Growth Paradigm Centered on Mini Dapp
1. Overview of the Kaia Blockchain Ecosystem
1.1 Background and Team
Kaia is a new blockchain ecosystem formed by the merger of Kakao's Klaytn and LINE's Finschia. Klaytn was launched by Ground X in June 2019, with early partners including well-known South Korean companies such as LG Electronics and Celltrion. Finschia was initially launched by LINE in August 2018 and established a foundation in Abu Dhabi in April 2023. In August 2024, the two chains officially merged into Kaia, managed by the newly established Kaia DLT Foundation.
Kaia is positioned as a high-performance L1 public chain focused on large-scale applications, deeply integrated with mainstream social platforms such as KakaoTalk and LINE. As a public chain based on BFT consensus, Kaia is committed to achieving enterprise-level performance, providing underlying support for the next generation of Web3 applications.
1.2 Main Features
Kaia adopts a hierarchical node architecture, including core units, consensus nodes, proxy nodes, and endpoint nodes. It uses an improved Istanbul BFT consensus algorithm to achieve a 1-second block time and instant finality, with a theoretical peak of 4000 TPS. The committee members are effectively controlled by communication overhead through VRF random election.
Kaia is EVM compatible and supports Ethereum ecosystem smart contracts. It integrates with various cross-chain bridges to achieve asset interoperability. It deeply integrates with the LINE ecosystem, allowing developers to directly deploy Dapps within the chat application. In May 2025, Tether will issue native USDT on the Kaia chain, providing stablecoin support.
Kaia adopts a sustainable token economic model, with KAIA tokens used for paying transaction fees and incentivizing network operation. It supports on-chain governance, adjustable inflation rates, and fee structures. Compared to other public chains, Kaia focuses on the Asian market, featuring second-level finality, low latency, high throughput, and stablecoin support.
2. Progress of Ecological Construction
2.1 Kaia Wave plan and Mini Dapp ecosystem
The Kaia mainnet will be launched in August 2024, along with the release of the Kaia Wave plan. Through the NEXT WEB SDK developed by LINE NEXT, Web3 developers can build Mini Dapps for LINE users. The first batch of Mini Dapps will be launched in the first quarter of 2025, covering multiple niche tracks.
Kaia has jointly launched the Mini Dapp Growth Competition with the LINE Dapp Portal, focusing on the MAU of the project and the growth of on-chain token holders. At the same time, the Dapp Portal is introduced as a Dapp directory and entry point that can be accessed directly through LINE.
2.2 Kaia Stablecoin plan
In May 2025, Kaia partnered with Tether to launch USDT natively on-chain. These USDT are fully deployed in the form of native contracts and are directly hosted and issued by Tether. The first batch of native USDT has been integrated into the Mini Dapp ecosystem within LINE Messenger, supporting in-app payments, cross-border transfers, and more.
Many mainstream exchanges have supported the USDT-KAIA network. In the future, Kaia plans to launch a Korean won stablecoin to further expand on-chain financial products and services.
2.3 ecological investment progress
In April 2025, the Kaia Foundation announced that it had secured funding led by 1kx and Blockchain Capital, with participation from Galaxy Digital, IDG Capital, and others. This financing will support the market promotion of LINE NEXT and Mini Dapp services, strengthening Kaia's influence in the global market.
2.4 ecological strategic cooperation
Kaia continues to expand its strategic cooperation in areas such as data visualization, secure custody, and asset circulation:
2.5 Developer Support and Community Building
Kaia supports developers in various ways and stimulates community vitality:
3. Excellent Project Cases in the Kaia Ecosystem
3.1 Excellent projects that have completed TGE
3.2 Other top projects worth looking forward to
These projects showcase the strong competitiveness of the Kaia ecosystem in core tracks such as gaming, providing a model for the development of Web3 applications in more vertical fields. As the ecosystem continues to improve, Kaia is expected to further consolidate its leading position in the Web3 space and promote the industry's transition from early adopters to mainstream users.
