Oasys Releases Technical Blueprint Focusing on Three Core Challenges of Blockchain Games
Oasys Releases Technical Blueprint, Outlining the Future Development Direction of Blockchain Games
As a public chain focused on bringing traditional games into the Web3 space, Oasys has released an important technical roadmap on the occasion of its second anniversary. This roadmap revolves around three core aspects: application data availability, layer-two interoperability, and ecosystem scalability, aiming to address the technical challenges faced in the current development of blockchain games.
Although blockchain games are still in their early stages, the enthusiasm for funding remains strong. According to data, the total funding for blockchain games in the first quarter of 2024 reached 280 million USD, while the total for 2023 was as high as 2.98 billion USD. Amid this wave of excitement, Oasys has become an important player in the blockchain gaming sector, thanks to its collaborations with gaming giants such as Ubisoft, Sega, and Bandai Namco, as well as a rich ecosystem of nearly 60 games.
However, in actual operations, Oasys has found that there are still multiple technical shortcomings that need to be addressed. To this end, its updated technical roadmap specifically proposes three major solutions:
Continuity of game assets: By mirroring game assets from the second layer network to the first layer network, user assets can be permanently secured even if the second layer data is lost.
Layer 2 Network Interoperability: Plans to introduce cross-chain bridges, universal data formats, and standardized APIs to achieve seamless interoperability between different Layer 2 networks, allowing users to freely transfer data and assets between games within the Oasys ecosystem.
Ecosystem Scalability: Work closely with partners to provide necessary tools and resources, lower technical barriers, and promote the sustainable development of the ecosystem. In particular, the Oasys Verse Development Kit (VDK) has been launched to enable enterprises to quickly deploy high-quality Layer 2 networks.
Oasys's technology roadmap is divided into two phases: short-term (within 1 year) and medium-term (2-3 years):
Short-term goals include:
The medium-term goals include:
In terms of practical implementation, Oasys has achieved several results. Recently, it launched the L2 chain XPLA Verse, bringing the popular games of the well-known Korean game company Com2uS onto the chain. At the same time, a blockchain game based on the classic Japanese manga "Captain Tsubasa" has also officially launched on the Oasys platform.
In terms of ecosystem expansion, Oasys has reached a collaboration with Japan's SBI Group, aiming to enhance its influence in the Japanese crypto gaming and NFT market. Additionally, Oasys is also partnering with the Web3 gaming division of South Korean internet giant Kakao to support its entry into the Japanese market.
Through these initiatives, Oasys has demonstrated its technological innovation capabilities and strategic vision in the blockchain gaming sector. With the gradual implementation of the technology roadmap, Oasys is steadily moving towards the goal of establishing global standards for chain games, creating value for players and developers, while also bringing new opportunities and experiences to the entire gaming industry.
