South Korea’s retail giant Lotte Group has taken a major step into blockchain. Its marketing and communications arm, Daehong Communications, has officially launched a tokenized voucher system on the Aptos blockchain.

Through its subsidiary platform Giftiel, Daehong has issued over 1 million real-world vouchers on-chain. The rollout began in early July 2025 and has already attracted more than 500,000 users. These users now hold blockchain-based vouchers without needing to interact directly with any crypto tools or wallets.

This move marks one of the largest real-world blockchain integrations in South Korea’s voucher and loyalty economy.

Full Blockchain Integration via Aptos

The Aptos chain now powers the entire voucher lifecycle, issuance, distribution, and redemption. According to the company, the goal is to streamline capital flow using blockchain rails while keeping the user experience frictionless.

Giftiel users don’t need to manage wallets or tokens manually. The onboarding to Web3 happens in the background, thanks to Aptos’ invisible infrastructure layer. This design lowers entry barriers and helps traditional consumers use blockchain-backed services with ease.

Aptos shared the development on X (formerly Twitter), stating that “from coupons to stablecoins, the future of finance runs on Aptos.”

Future Plans: Points, Digital Assets, and Stablecoins

The tokenized voucher rollout is only the beginning. Daehong has confirmed that this “capital flow” blockchain ecosystem will soon expand. Future phases aim to support points, digital assets, and even stablecoins across Lotte Group’s broader operations.

Given Lotte’s reach across retail, hospitality, and finance, this expansion could create one of the largest consumer blockchain ecosystems in Asia. With over 5 million users already on Giftiel, the potential impact is significant. The integration could redefine how consumers interact with promotions, rewards, and even currency, without ever knowing they’re on a blockchain.

A Win for Mass Web3 Adoption

Lotte’s move shows how traditional corporations can leverage blockchain at scale without burdening the end-user. It also demonstrates Aptos’ capability to support high-volume, real-world applications.

If this rollout succeeds, it could set the tone for other Asian giants to jump in. Companies aiming to modernize their rewards and payment systems without breaking things might see this as their cue.
