Hedera is about to upgrade Mainnet – Will it affect the price of HBAR?
Hedera (HBAR) will upgrade the mainnet to version 0.63 at 00:00 on July 24, 2025 ( Vietnam time ). The maintenance will last about 40 minutes and may temporarily slow down the transaction processing throughout the network.
The update focuses on improving system operations and network performance. However, it does not bring any changes to HBAR tokenomics or smart contract execution.
What’s new in the Hedera Mainnet upgrade?
The new version includes three main changes:
These changes are aimed at increasing resilience and flexibility for developers as well as node operators. Hedera's CLI tools like yahcli will now operate on custom partitions of the network.
Simply put, it will expand the deployment potential of Hedera for businesses. The upgrade will enhance network throughput and reduce ledger synchronization time.
Will the upgrade affect HBAR utility?
There are no direct changes to the utility of HBAR. The core functions of the token such as transfer, staking, and smart contract gas fees will not be affected. Transaction fees and the staking mechanism will also remain unchanged.
Users may experience temporary delays or pauses in transaction processing during the upgrade.
However, the network will return to normal operation after the maintenance is completed.
HBAR has increased by over 100% this month, from around $0.15 to the range of $0.27 - $0.29 on July 21.
Analysts point to a bullish technical setup, with the formation of a golden cross and strong capital inflow into the exchange. Although the short-term RSI indicates that HBAR is in the overbought territory, the overall sentiment remains optimistic.
The latest analysis shows that if the upward momentum is maintained, the next resistance level is within the range of $0.37 to $0.50.
The v0.63 upgrade is a technical maintenance release, not a feature launch or tokenomics update. This upgrade is unlikely to directly impact price volatility.
However, improvements in the stability and reliability of Hedera may help bolster investor confidence, especially after the surge in July.
If the upgrade process goes smoothly, it could help maintain the current price range by minimizing technical risks. However, the volatility of HBAR may depend more on macro sentiment and upcoming news about the ecosystem.
Traders should monitor the stability of the network during the rollout, while also capturing general signals in the market to prepare for the next actions.
